Crude oil slides Monday

NEW YORK, June 6 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices settled under $99 per barrel in New York Monday in advance of a meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Leading up to the OPEC meeting, scheduled for Wednesday in Vienna, oil ministers appear split, with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait ready to increase output and Iran opposed to that strategy.

July delivery crude oil shed 21 cents to $98.80 per barrel Monday. Home heating oil lost 1.01 cents to $3.0073 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline shed 0.24 cents to $2.9475 per gallon.

Henry Hub natural gas prices added 2 cents to reach $4.837 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline dropped to $3.771 per gallon from Sunday's $3.775, AAA said.
