BELGRADE, Serbia, June 2 (UPI) -- Farmers in Serbia said they would continue to block roads to protest a change in farm subsidy policies.
The government proposed dropping subsidized land parcels from about 250 acres to 25 acres per farming household, B92 reported Thursday.

In recent negotiations, the government has increased the number to about 125 acres. Farmers continued to block roads with tractors, however, even after Agriculture Minister Dusan Petrovic called on farmers to stop.
Police have been dispatched to the protest sites, which include roads blocking all access to and from the towns of Pancevo and Novi Sad, the news agency said.
