U.S. markets recover from steep losses


NEW YORK, April 29 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices finished April up 6 percent Friday, their highest level since September 2008, to nearly $114 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Traders said prices were tempered by fears for the U.S. economy.
Light sweet crude added $1.07 to $113.93 a barrel while Henry Hub natural gas rose 1.27 cents to $4.698 per British thermal unit and home heating oil added 2.42 cents to $3.2558 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline added 3.5 cents to $3.4648.
At the gas pump, AAA said the price averaged $3.909 Friday, compared with $3.886 Thursday and $2.877 last year. Gasoline reached its highest average price July 17, 2008, when it sold for an average $4.114.
