WASHINGTON, March 26 (UPI) -- An International Trade Commission judge has recommended Finnish phone giant Nokia Corp's patent infringement case against Apple Inc. be dropped.

Although ruling in Apple's favor, the case is not closed. The ITC has 60 days to review Judge James Gildea's recommendation and could reverse the decision, The Wall Street Journal reported.

On Friday, the commission did just that, saying it would review a case of patent infringement brought against Apple and Research In Motion Ltd. by Eastman Kodak Co.

The dispute with Nokia began in 2009, when the firm filed claims that Apple had violated 10 of its patents while building the iPhone.

The suit was later extended to include the Apple iPad.

Apple has counter-sued, the Journal said.
