WASHINGTON, March 24 (UPI) -- U.S. crude oil inventories rose by 2.1 million barrels in the week ending March 18, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said.
Supplies reached 352.8 million barrels, having risen in eight of the past nine weeks, despite civil unrest disrupting supplies from the Middle East and Africa.
In the week, gasoline inventories fell by 5.3 million barrels to 219.7 million barrels, dropping for the fourth week out the past five. Gasoline stockpiles, however, remain in the upper limit of the average range for this time of year.
Inventories of finished gasoline and gasoline blending component stockpiles fell during the week, the energy agency reported.
Supplies of distillate fuels, which include heating oil, remained unchanged at 152.6 million barrels.
