Grain futures mixed Wednesday

CHICAGO, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Grain futures closed mixed Wednesday on a light trading day between national holidays.

Corn was up 3/4 to up 2, soybeans were off 9 1/2 to off 10, wheat was up 1/4 to up 1 3/4 and oats were unchanged to off 4 1/2.

Corn prices traded slightly higher for the second consecutive trading session, as Mexico purchased 120,000 metric tons. Wheat futures found support from a weaker dollar, the dollar index dropping 0.75 percent. Soybeans turned lower on a profit-taking selloff, despite the U.S. Department of Agriculture announcing a sale of 120,000 metric tons to China.

Corn: Mar 6.24 up 3/4, May 6.32 up 3/4, Jly 6.35 3/4 up 1 1/4, Sep 5.87 up 2.

Soybeans: Jan 13.66 off 9 3/4, Mar 13.77 off 10, May 13.84 off 9 1/2, Jly 13.86 1/2 off 9 1/2.

Wheat: Mar 7.99 1/4 up 1, May 8.25 3/4 up 1 3/4, Jly 8.36 1/4 up 1, Sep 8.49 up 1/4.

Oats: Mar 3.84 1/2 off 4 1/2, May 3.94 1/2 off 4 1/2, Jly 3.93 1/2 off 2, Sep 3.49 1/2 unchanged.
