

CHICAGO, July 30 (UPI) -- Grain futures surged higher on the Chicago Board of Trade Friday with reports of drought in parts of Europe prompting increased export activity.
Corn was up 11 1/2 to up 13 1/2, soybeans were up 15 1/2 to up 25 3/4, wheat was up 26 1/4 to up 34 1/4 and oats were up 9 1/2.
Corn prices gained with the dollar index down slightly, off 0.05 percent, and with strong demand from funds. Wheat futures soared with dry conditions in Russia expected to lower yields and pushing Egypt to turn to U.S. suppliers. Soybean futures rallied with rain expected in U.S. growing areas and rain reportedly needed in growing areas of India..

Corn: Sep 3.92 3/4, up 13 1/2; Dec 4.06 3/4, up 13; Mar 4.18 3/4, up 13; May 4.25 1/2, up 11 1/2.
Soybeans: Aug 10.52 1/2, up 25 3/4; Sep 10.12, up 19 1/4; Nov 10.05, up 17; Jan 10.11, up 15 1/2.
Wheat: Sep 6.61 1/2, up 34; Dec 6.93 3/4, up 34 1/4; Mar 7.13 1/2, up 30 1/2; May 7.14 1/2, up 26 1/4.
Oats: Sep 2.71; Dec 2.84; Mar 2.91; May 2.98 – all up 9 1/2.
