WASHINGTON, March 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a consumer warning about holiday-themed children's charm bracelets with high cadmium levels.
The warning concerns metal bracelets with snowman, Christmas tree, snowflake and candy cane charms imported from China by Buy-Rite Designs of Freehold, N.J. The company, however, is no longer in business, which eliminates the option of a recall and leaves certain information that normally accompanies a recall unknown.
The bracelets, with high levels of toxic cadmium, were sold as Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer brand products in two styles: Bumble Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
The bracelets were sold between 2006 and 2009 in dollar stores for about $1.
Consumers were advised to dispose of the bracelets immediately.
No remedy -- such as a refund -- was announced and a number to call for additional information was not listed.
