WINNETKA, Ill., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- A 26-room mansion completed in 2008 came onto market north of Chicago with a stunning price of $28 million, real estate listings revealed.
The home called Le Grand Reve, meaning The Big Dream, was "unofficially listed" for $32 million last year, but did not turn up on multiple listings services until this week, The Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.
The price of the mansion -- technically in Winnetka, Ill, -- -dwarfs the second highest priced home in the area, a 25-room mansion in Barrington Hills with an asking price of $17 million.
Le Grand Reve is owned by real estate executive Sherwin Jarol and his wife Deborah. It is a chateau-style home designed by high-end architect Richard Landry.
"It's definitely the trophy estate of the Chicago area. There's nothing else like it," said Timothy Salm of Sudler Sotheby's International Realty.
