
WASHINGTON, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Hundreds of thousands of Dorel infant car seats are being recalled because faulty restraints could allow children to fall out, a U.S. watchdog agency says.
About 447,000 Dorel car seats that double as carriers were imported from China by Dorel Juvenile Group Inc. of Columbus, Ind., and sold nationwide from January 2008 through this month for between $120 and $220.
The company has received 77 reports of the child restraint on the carrier/car seats coming apart, causing infants to fall. Three reports included injuries to infants, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in announcing the voluntary recall.
The car seats were sold as Safety First Sojourn Travel System, Safety First Eurostar Travel System, Safety First Lite Wave Travel System and Safety First Vector Travel System. They were also sold as Cosco Sprint Travel System, Disney Propack Travel System and Eddie Bauer Adventurer Travel System.
Consumers were advised to not use the carrying handle of the car seat until contacting Dorel Juvenile Group to receive a free a repair kit.
