U.S. markets recover from steep losses
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- General Motors Co. Vice Chairman of Marketing Bob Lutz said the true story of Chief Executive Officer Fritz Henderson's departure would remain zipped for now.
Lutz praised Henderson's eight-month tenure as the head of GM at the Los Angeles Auto Show, saying he was "very sorry to see Fritz go," and calling him, "one of the absolute finest executives that I've ever worked for."
But the story of Henderson's quick departure would remain sealed for now, Lutz said.
GM Chairman Ed Whitacre announced Henderson's retirement Tuesday, saying the company that emerged from bankruptcy this summer needed to accelerate changes.
At the auto show, Lutz told reporters, "I know you all would like to know the true inside story of what transpired at General Motors yesterday. I'm not going to give it to you."
"You will have to wait until I publish my next book -- presumably when I retire, possibly several years from now," he said.
