LONDON, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- An English lawyer says camera phones ought to be banned at Christmas parties because of the risk of lawsuits over violating fellow guests' privacy rights.
Employment lawyer Jonathan Whittaker points out pictures snapped with a mobile phone can be posted almost instantaneously on the Internet, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.
"Now, we've all been there -- or nearby: Christmas parties are full of silly, stupid or sometimes downright offensive little acts carried out by people whose judgment is severely impaired," he said. "The problem is that unless the subject or subjects of the photo give their permission, then it could be a sack-able and sue-able act."
Whittaker also said employers should make sure they get permission from anyone in photos before posting them on a Web site or blog, he said.
