WASHINGTON, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Homelite backpack blowers due to a fire hazard.

About 85,000 backpack blowers were imported from China by Homelite Consumer Products Inc., of Anderson, S.C.

They were sold nationwide from September 2007 through October 2009 for between $90 and $140 each. The blowers include fuel tanks that can leak, causing a fire hazard.

The recall involves Homelite Mighty Lite backpack blowers with product model numbers UT08580 and UT08580A.

Consumers were advised to contact Homelite for a free fuel tank replacement.

Consumers can call 800-242-4672 for information.
