WASHINGTON, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of rechargeable AMX batteries due to fire and burn hazards.
Batteries sold with MVP 5000 Series Wireless Touch Panels are involved in the recall.
A failure of the MVP units caused by leaving the batteries uncharged for three months could cause the batteries to rupture, presenting a burn and fire hazard, the commission said.
About 1,900 MVP wireless touch panels were sold nationwide by AMX dealers from May 2008 through June 2009 for between $2,400 and $4,200.
Consumers were advised to stop using the touch panels and contact AMX to receive free battery replacements.
Consumers can call 800-222-0193 for information.
