U.S. markets recover from steep losses

NEW YORK, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices held stable under $72.50 per barrel Thursday, after a drop in U.S. stockpiles had pushed prices higher in the previous trading session.
The Energy Information Administration said U.S. inventories of crude oil fell 4.7 million barrels in the week ending Sept. 11.
Energy prices settled down overnight, then pulled back up to $72.40 Thursday, down 4 cents from Wednesday. Heating oil prices rose 0.0015 cents to $1.8361 per gallon. Reformulated gasoline prices rose 0.0057 cents to $1.852. Natural gas prices dropped 0.305 cents to $3.46 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline was $2.55 per gallon Thursday, down from Wednesday's $2.556, AAA said.
