Husqvarna recalls lawn tractors

WASHINGTON, July 8 (UPI) -- A parking brake problem prompted a voluntary recall of Craftsman lawn tractors made for Sears by Husqvarna, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

About 8,200 tractors were distributed by Husqvarna Consumer Outdoor Products N.A. Inc. of Augusta, Ga., and sold at Sears and Kmart stores nationwide for about $1,200 each between January and April, the commission said.

The risk of parking brake failure involves Craftsman lawn tractors made by the Swedish company with model numbers 917 289080 and 917 289081.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled tractors and contact Sears for a free, at-home inspection and repair of the brake cable.

Consumers can call 800-978-7615 for information.
