Big Muddy power generators recalled

WASHINGTON, June 29 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Big Muddy PowerPlus Generators, citing a fire hazard.

The generator's 220-volt receptacle can fail, causing a power surge that can damage appliances and increase risks of a fire, the commission said in a statement.

About 450 of the generators were imported from China by Big Muddy Sports of Perryville, Mo., and sold at Buchheit stores in Illinois and Missouri in May for about $700.

The recall involves model number BM7200 Power+.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled generators and return them to Buchheit for a full refund.

Consumers can call 800-678-3607 for information.
