WASHINGTON, June 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall Wagner Spray Tech Corp. heat guns due to fire and burn hazards.

An electrical problem can cause the heat guns to continue to operate after the power switch is turned to off, the commission said.

About 300,000 of the heat guns, imported from China, were distributed by Wagner Spray Tech Corp. of Minneapolis, Minn., and sold nationwide from November 2004 through April 2009 for about $40.

The recalled heat guns, generally used for paint removal, defrosting freezers and various hobbies, include the Milwaukee Heat Gun MHT3300, Ace HT3500 Heat Gun and Wagner Heat Gun HT3500.

Consumers were advised to stop using the heat guns and contact Wagner for a free replacement.

Consumers can call 888-925-6244 for information.
