OGDEN, Utah, May 18 (UPI) -- Auto manufacturer Chrysler's decision to terminate franchise agreements with 789 dealerships includes the world's oldest Dodge store in Utah, the manager said.
Jim Hinckley, whose grandfather Robert Hinckley opened Hinckley Dodge in 1915, said his family has been selling Dodge and Chrysler vehicles for four generations at the world's oldest continuously run Dodge dealership in Ogden, Utah, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Monday.
"Our loyalty certainly hasn't been repaid," he said Friday.
Hinckley, general manager of the dealership, said that while the new Dodges will no longer be coming to his business, he has no plans to close down.
He said he may look into franchise deals with other manufacturers, but for now "we're just Ogden's newest used dealership."
Hinckley Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Salt Lake City, which is general managed by Hinckley's father, also named Jim, is one of the few dealerships in the state to retain its contract with Chrysler. There are currently 24 of the stores in the state, and 10 are slated to lose their franchise agreements at the start of next month when Chrysler's decision takes affect.
