Crude oil slides Tuesday

NEW YORK, March 3 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices fell Tuesday on the New York Mercantile exchange, reflecting the relatively modest decline in U.S. stock indexes.

Crude oil prices are following the ups and downs of the overall economy -- mostly down for the past eight months.

Crude oil prices fell 71 cents to $41.50 per barrel. Heating oil prices gained 0.0188 cents to $1.17 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline gained 0.0304 cents to $1.3166 per gallon. Natural gas prices rose 0.136 cents to $4.288 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $1.933 Tuesday, up slightly from Monday's $1.932 a gallon, AAA said.
