
CHICAGO, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Grains closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Friday, as the dollar remained strong and crude oil prices held nearly steady in New York.
Corn was off 2 1/4 to off 2 3/4, soybeans were up 8 3/4 to up 10, wheat was off 10 to off 10 1/4 and oats were off 6 1/2.
Corn closed lower, although Japan purchased 213,000 metric tons Friday. Egypt bought 180,000 metric tons of wheat, 60,000 from U.S sources. Soybeans finished higher in a uncertain week with conflicting weather reports from Argentina and the Chinese New Year curtailing business with a major market.

Corn: Mar 3.79, off 2 3/4; May 3.90 1/4, off 2 3/4; Jul 4.01 1/4, off 2 1/2; Sep 4.11 3/4, off 2 1/4.
Soybeans: Mar 9.80, up 9 1/2; May 9.86 3/4, up 9; Jul 9.93 3/4, up 8 3/4; Aug 9.90, up 10.
Wheat: Mar 5.68, off 10; May 5.80 3/4, off 10 1/4; Jul 5.92 3/4, off 10; Sep 6.15 1/2, off 10 1/4.
Oats: Mar 2.05, off 6 1/2; May 2.15, off 6 1/2; Jul 2.24 1/2, off 6 1/2; Sep 2.34, off 6 1/2.
