CHICAGO, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Grains closed mostly lower on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday in spite of the dollar closing lower in New York.
Corn was off 9 3/4 to off 10, soybeans were off 1/2 to off 1, wheat was off 1/2 to off 1 and oats were up 1.
Corn closed lower in spite of the dollar and a lower expectation for Argentina's corn crop, which a U.S. attache estimated at 16.5 million metric tons. Wheat exports were low on the week, although Tunisia bought 123,000 metric tons Thursday. China purchased 120,000 metric tons of soybeans with the week's export sales reaching 551,000 metric tons.
