Crude oil prices slide Monday

WARRENVILLE, Ill., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- The end of the year will be the end of 470 Navistar International Corp. jobs in Canada, Canadian media reports said.
The truckmaker would not confirm the number of jobs it would cut, but Canadian press reports said half the workers at a Chatham, Ontario, factory received notices their jobs would end Jan. 31, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday.
"We told employees Wednesday that we will be reducing the production schedule at Chatham early next year because of the extremely soft truck market and reduced orders," said company spokesman Roy Wiley.
The production cuts meant layoffs, too, Wiley said.
The Ontario plant makes "Class 8" trucks -- big rigs suitable for cross-country hauling, the Tribune reported.
