Lehman CEO, other execs get subpoenas

NEW YORK, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Lehman Brothers Chairman and CEO Richard Fuld Jr., has been summoned to talk to U.S. investigators looking into the investment firm's collapse, sources say.

Fuld, former Lehman President Joseph Gregory, former Chief Financial Officer Erin Callan and her successor in that job, Ian Lowitt, have all received subpoenas from U.S. Justice Department investigators, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

Investigators are looking into whether Lehman officials misled investors before it collapsed last month, people familiar with the probe told the Journal. It wasn't clear if investigators regard the executives as targets or potential witnesses.

Fuld has received criticism since Lehman filed for bankruptcy protection Sept. 15 because of testimony at a congressional hearing earlier this month in which he said that he didn't deceive investors and others about the firm's financial health, the Journal said.
