BURNABY, British Columbia, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Canadian consumer electronics giant Future Shop announced it is hiring 6,000 seasonal sales staff across the country.

Based in Burnaby, British Columbia, the 134-big box store chain said it is seeking people with experience in gaming, home theater, wireless communications, computers, networking and digital cameras, the Windsor Star reported.

"The seasonal associates will receive a one-week intensive training program with customer service and further specific job training," the company said in a release.

The training is slated to be completed by Nov. 1 and bolster the existing staff of 10,000 employees, the company said.

Company officials said it plans to keep the seasonal employees working until Jan. 10, and that as many as 1,200 of the jobs could be made permanent, the Star said.
