Pepsi chief named most powerful woman

NEW YORK, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Indra Nooyi, chairman and chief executive officer of Pepsi Co. was ranked first on Fortune Magazine's annual list of the 50 most powerful women in 2008.

The list draws heavily from the ranks of U.S. corporations with entertainer, entrepreneur and Chairman of Harpo, Oprah Winfrey, coming in eighth.

Second on the list is Irene Rosenfeld, chairman and chief executive officer of Kraft Foods.

The top five also includes Pat Woertz, president and CEO of Archer Daniels Midland, Anne Mulcahy, chairman and CEO of Xerox, and Angela Braly president and CEO of Wellpoint.

This year's list includes the first female CEO and President of a major oil company,

Lynn Elsenhans, who was ranked 48th as leader of Sunoco. The list also includes the youngest woman to ever make the top 50 list, Marissa Mayer, 33, who is Vice President of Search Products and User Experience at Google.
