ROSELAND, N.J., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- The U.S. non-farm jobs sector lost 8,000 jobs from August to September and a July-to-August estimate was revised downward, a research group said Wednesday.
Automatic Data Processing Inc. revised a previous estimate of 33,000 jobs lost July to August to 37,000.
The September decline "continues to offer evidence of a weak labor market" the ADP National Employment Report said.
Manufacturing jobs fell for the 25th consecutive month, losing 48,000 jobs after losing 56,000 jobs during the previous month, ADP said.
This was "somewhat offset" by gains in service sector jobs, which increased by 64,000, the report said.
Companies with more than 500 workers lost 6,000 jobs during the month. Businesses with between 50 and 499 workers, lost 30,000 jobs, while smaller businesses gained 28,000 jobs, ADP said.
