IKEA repair chests recalled

Published: Sept. 30, 2008 at 2:55 PM

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of IKEA KVIBY repair chests due to a laceration hazard.

About 5,000 of the four-drawer chests made in Denmark for IKEA Home Furnishings of Conshohocken, Pa., were sold between August 2007 and July 2008 for about $300, the commission said.

The glass drawer knobs can break during assembly or use, posing a risk of injury, the commission said.

The chest of drawers is white. The recall involves chests with article No. 201-080-90.

Consumers were advised to carefully remove the glass knobs and contact IKEA for free replacement knobs.

Consumers can call 888-966-4532 for information.
