Deere & Co. utility vehicles recalled

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Deere & Co. Gator XUV utility vehicles due to a fire hazard.

About 2,500 of the Model 620i vehicles, made by Deere & Co., of Moline, Ill., were sold April 2008 through August 2008 for about $10,000 each, the commission said in a statement.

The vehicles' gas tanks have a potential to leak because of a gap in the seam at the base of the filler neck, the CPSC said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the vehicles and contact a John Deere dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. Consumers were advised to keep the fuel tank below half full until repairs can be arranged.

Consumers can call 800-537-8233 for more information.
