Razor USA Dirt Quad vehicles recalled

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Razor USA Dirt Quad electric-powered vehicles due to a loss of control problem.

The control modules for the vehicles throttles can fail, causing an unexpected surge in speed, the Commission said in a statement Thursday.

About 30,000 of the vehicles were sold nationwide between August 2006 and September 2007 for about $400, the Commission said.

Razor USA LLC of Cerritos, Calif., has received 60 reports of the vehicles losing speed control, the statement said.

The vehicles involved in this recall have product ID numbers that begin with 103110-01 or 103110-02.

Consumers were advised to stop using the vehicles and contact Razor USA for a free replacement controller.

Consumers can call 800-813-3155 for information.
