WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Razor USA PowerWing scooters due to a laceration hazard.

The three-wheeled scooters, imported by Razor USA LLC of Cerritos, Calif., have sharp edges on the undersides of the foot platforms, the commission said in a statement Thursday.

About 103,000 of the scooters were sold nationwide between October 2007 and September 2008 for about $100 each.

The company has received 10 reports of cuts resulting from the scooters, including four incidents resulting in Achilles tendon surgery.

The recalled scooters are black or silver and include multiple model numbers.

Consumers were advised to take the scooters from children immediately and contact Razor USA for a replacement foot platform.

Consumers can call 800-314-9870 for information.
