Company charged with hazardous shipping

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- U.S. prosecutors filed charges in San Francisco against Benefit Cosmetics for allegedly shipping a highly flammable material illegally, court papers show.

Twin sisters, Jean and Jane Ford, started the boutique with a shop on Market Street in San Francisco in 1976, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Thursday. The company has 1,000 counters in 25 countries, the newspaper reported.

Charges filed in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco claim the company employees weren't licensed, trained or certified to ship a common cleaning agent, isopropyl alcohol, by air when it did so March 26, 2006.
