WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Wolf Appliance gas ranges due to a burn hazard.
The manufacturer, Wolf Appliance Inc., of Madison, Wis., has received 97 reports about the gas ranges in which delayed ignition of gas has caused a flash of flames leaping out toward the consumer. Fifteen of the incidents caused minor burns, CPSC said.
About 24,000 of the 48-inch gas ranges were sold from January 1998 through June 2008 for between $5,000 and $9,000 each.
The recall involves model Nos. P48, PS48, and R48.
Consumers were advised to stop using the range's 18-inch oven and contact the manufacturer for a free in-home repair.
The large oven and the top burners are not affected by the recall and may be used, CPSC said.
