Grain trading mixed in Chicago Thursday

Maryland institutes water restrictions; Farmers sufffer

CHICAGO, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Grain prices trading was mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday as crude oil prices fell and Russia upped its total grain yield expectations.

At the Chicago Board of Trade, corn was up 2 1/4 to up 2 3/4, soybeans were off 16 1/4 to off 17, wheat was up 2 1/4 to up 3 and oats were off 9.

Corn prices rose slightly although Russia upped its grain forecast to 93.2 million tons. Wheat also traded up with continued demand from the Middle East and North Africa. Soybeans prices fell with rains from eastern Missouri to Southeast Wisconsin expected to be heavy in some areas.

The prices:

Corn: Sep 5.49 1/4, up 2 3/4; Dec 5.64 1/2, up 2 1/4; Mar 5.83 1/4, up 2 1/4; May 5.95 1/4, up 2 1/4.

Soybeans: Sep 12.34, off 17; Nov 12.35, off 16 1/2; Jan 12.52, off 16 1/2, Mar 12.64 1/2, off 16 1/4.

Wheat: Sep 7.55 1/4, up 3; Dec 7.77, up 2 1/4; Mar 8.00 3/4, up 2 1/4; May 8.15 1/2, up 2 1/4.

Oats: Sep 3.28, off 9; Dec 3.43, off 9; Mar 3.60 1/2, off 9; May 3.72 1/2, off 9.
