WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Cervelo SA bicycle forks due to a fall hazard.
The steerer on the Wolf SL carbon fiber bicycle fork can break while riding the bike, CPSC said. The company, Cervelo SA of Switzerland, has received 12 reports of falls, two involving injuries, resulting from the breaks, CPSC said.
About 5,800 of the bicycle forks were sold nationwide from November 2005 through July 2007 for about $475.
The recalled forks are black with the words "Wolf Superlite" printed on the side.
The forks, made in China, are included in frame sets of bicycle models R3, R3 SL, Soloist Carbon, Soloist Carbon SL and P3 Carbon.
Consumers were advised to stop using the bicycles with the recalled forks and contact an authorized Cervelo dealer for a free replacement.
Consumers can call Cervelo at 866-296-3137 for information.
