Garden supply flame weeders recalled

WASHINGTON, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Gardener's Supply flame weeders because of fire and burn hazards.

The company has received three reports of the flame weeder's two-piece brass control valve leaking propane, including one incident involving a fire, CPSC said in a statement.

About 2,000 of the flame weeders, made in the United Kingdom, and imported by Gardener's Supply Co. of Burlington, Vt., were sold through company outlets between March 2008 and July 2008 for about $50 each.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled flame weeders and return them to the store for a full refund, including any necessary shipping costs.

Consumers can also call Gardener's Supply at 800-876-5520 for information.
