Cooper Lighting emergency lights recalled

WASHINGTON, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Cooper Lighting emergency and exit lights, because of malfunctions.

The Sure-Lite and AtLite exit and emergency lights made by Cooper Lighting of Peachtree City, Ga., can fail during an emergency, CPSC said in a statement.

About 9,000 emergency and exit lights were sold through authorized dealerships between September 2007 and June 2008 for between $200 and $500. Most were used in commercial buildings, CPSC said.

The company is providing free replacements, CPSC said.
