WASHINGTON, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Airborne Health Inc. of Bonita Springs, Fla., will pay $30 million to settle a false advertising lawsuit, the Federal Trade Commission said Friday.
The FTC complain claimed there was "no credible evidence that Airborne products, taken as directed, will reduce the severity or duration of colds," FTC director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection Lydia Parnes said in a statement.
The suit named the company, former teacher Victoria Knight-McDowell, who invented the Airborne Formula, and her husband John McDowell, the statement said.
Knight-McDowell and her husband had falsely claimed Airborne products were clinically proven as cold treatments, the statement said.
