WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Harbor Freight Tools halogen work lights because of a fire and shock hazard.
The halogen lamps were made in China and imported by Harbor Freight Tools of Carmarillo, Calif. The lamps can overheat and melt, CPSC said in a statement.
About 58,000 lamps were sold between February 2006 and March 2008 for about $10.
The 500 watt lamps involved in the recall include model No. 30858. The lamp is 7 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall. It is mounted on a yellow frame. "Work Light 8F95" is printed on a sticker on the back.
CPSC advised consumers to stop using the recalled lamps and contact Harbor Freight Tools for a full refund.
Consumers can also call Harbor Freight Tools at 800-444-3353 for information.
