Mother Hubbard's Cupboards cribs recalled

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Mother Hubbard's Cupboards cribs because of a fall hazard.

The cribs, made by Mother Hubbard's Cupboards of Toronto, Canada, fail to meet federal safety standards. With less than 26 inches between the mattress bracket in the lowest position and the top of the side rail, it is possible for children to climb over the rail, CPSC said in a statement.

About 1,300 of the cribs were sold from March 2006 through March 2008 for between $500 and $650, CPSC said.

There are several models of cribs involved, including the Enchantment, the Hush a Bye, the Once upon a time, and Rock a bye.

CPSC advised consumers to stop using the recalled cribs and contact Mother Hubbard's Cupboard for instruction on how to reinstall the mattress brackets in a safer position.

Consumers can also call Mother Hubbard's Cupboards at 888-661-8201 for information.
