New York ranks last in on-time arrivals

NEW YORK, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- New York City had the worst track record for arrivals in July, with John F. Kennedy International Airport last on the list with a 54.79 percent on-time record.

The second worst record was also in New York, at LaGuardia Airport, which posted an on-time record of 58.43 percent, FlightStats said.

Salt Lake City International Airport posted the best on-time record among the 40 busiest U.S. airports in July, the industry tracking group said. At Salt Lake International, 85.99 percent of its flights arrived on time in July, FlightStats reported.

Memphis International Airport posted the second best record with 84.21 percent of its flights listed as on time, CNNMoney.com said.

On average, at the 40 busiest airports, 74.35 percent of the flights made it to the gate on time, the report said.

The air carrier with the best July record for arrivals was Southwest Airlines, while JetBlue Airways posted the worst record among major airlines, the report said.
