Reebok exercise cycles recalled

WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Reebok Studio Exercise Cycles due to a laceration hazard.

About 20,000 of the recalled exercise bikes made by Fitness Associates Inc. for Reebok International Ltd. of Canton, Mass., were sold from 1997 through 2000, CPSC said in a statement.

The alloy cranks on the exercise bikes can break, posing a hazard to users, CPSC said.

The recalled exercise bikes are primarily used in fitness centers. The recalled bicycle is black with silver cranks, CPSC said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the exercise bicycles and contact Reebok International for a discount on a current model.

Consumers can call Reebok International at 800-382-3823 for information.
