WASHINGTON, July 31 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Walther air cylinders, which are used for air pistols, because of risk of bursting.
About 70 of the air cylinders, imported from Germany by Champion Choice of La Vergne, Tenn., were sold from 2000-02 for about $47.
The cylinders can burst during refilling, causing serious injury to bystanders, CPSC said in a statement.
The model 2/WALTHER 85 cubic centimeter air cylinders involved in the recall are imprinted at the ends with test dates between 6 00 and 6 01 2000/2001.
Consumers were advised to take stop using the cylinders immediately and depressurize them. Consumers should then contact Champion Choice for a free replacement.
Consumers can call Champion Choice at 800-345-7179 for information.
