U.S. markets up slightly Friday morning
NEW YORK, July 25 (UPI) -- Major U.S. stock indexes rose slightly Friday morning after a Thursday downturn that set the Dow Jones industrial average back 285 points.
The U.S. Commerce Department reported durable goods orders rose higher than expected in June, jumping 0.8 percent after economists predicted a fall of 0.4 percent.
In early Friday trading, the DJIA was up 11.97 points to 11,361.25, up 0.11 percent. The Nasdaq composite index rose 5.30 points to to 2,285.41, up 0.23 percent. The Standard and Poor's 500 rose 1.22 points to 1,253.76, up 0.1 percent.
The 10-year U.S. Treasury note dropped 12/32 to yield 4.048 percent.
