WASHINGTON, July 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Dowling horseshoe magnets because of a lead paint violation.
The paint used in the magnets, imported by Dowling Magnets of Sonoma, Calif., include excessive levels of lead, CPSC said in a statement.
About 91,500 of the Classic Horseshoe Magnets were sold between March 2003 and April 2008 through specialty retailers and educational supply distributors for about $10 each.
The magnets are 6 inches tall with red plastic coating and "N" and "S" engraved on alternate ends.
Consumers were advised to take the magnets away from children and contact Dowling Magnets for a free replacement.
Consumers can also call Dowling Magnets at 866-623-3336 for more information.
