Grains lower in Chicago Monday

CHICAGO, Calif., July 21 (UPI) -- Grain traded lower Monday on the Chicago Board of Trade on favorable weather reports in the United States and overseas.

Corn was off 19 3/4 to off 20 1/4; soybeans were off 44 to off 60 1/2; wheat was off 13 to off 14; oats were off 12 3/4 to off 14 1/4.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture weekly crop report showed corn progress slow compared with historic averages. Wheat traded lower as the spring wheat harvest is well under way and Australia reported beneficial rain on both sides of the country. Soybeans traded in sympathy with corn with the U.S.D.A reporting 45 percent of the crop in bloom.

Corn: Sep 5.89 1/4, off 20 1/4; Dec 6.08 1/4, off 20 1/4; Mar 6.27 3/4, off 20; May 6.40, off 19 3/4.

Soybeans: Aug 14.09 1/2, off 60 1/2; Sep 14.05, off 53 1/2; Nov 14.03, off 45; Jan 14.19 3/4, off 44.

Wheat: Sep 7.91, off 13; Dec 8.14 3/4, off 13 3/4; Mar 8.38, off 13 1/2; May 8.53, off 14.

Oats: Sep 3.86, off 14 1/4; Dec 4.04, off 12 3/4; Mar 4.23, off 12 3/4; May 4.35, off 12 3/4.
