
WASHINGTON, July 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of bench scale adapters due to a fire hazard.
About 1,300 of the adapters, made in China for American Weigh Scales of Charleston, S.C., were sold on line and through American Weigh Scale distributors form February 2008 through March 2008 for about $10 each.
The bench adapters are silver and have "MINI CHARGER" printed on the back. "AC Adapter" is printed on a white label on the under side.
No injuries have been reported, but the company has received three reports of adapters smoking while in use.
Consumers were advised to stop using the adapters and return them to the company for credit toward another purchase.
