Propane storage tanks recalled

WASHINGTON, July 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of American Welding & Tank propane storage tanks due to fire hazard.

The odor added to propane that allows individuals a chance to discover a leak in the tanks begins to fade as the tanks rust on the inside, CPSC said in a statement.

About 11,000 of the 120- to 1,000-gallon underground tanks, made by American Welding & Tank of Jesup, Ga., were sold at eastern propane dealerships from January 2005 through April 2008, CPSC said.

Needed repairs will be made by the company, CPSC said.

Consumers can call American Welding & Tank at 866-614-0910 for information.
