CALGARY, Alberta, July 9 (UPI) -- A new code-share agreement between Canada's WestJet airlines and Southwest Airlines gives Southwest its first international exposure.

Southwest, based in Dallas, has more than 3,400 flights daily to 64 cities in 32 U.S. states. This week it entered into the agreement with low-fare WestJet of Calgary, Alberta, to allow travelers to book travel seamlessly among the two carriers, a WestJet release said.

Southwest passengers will gain access to WestJet's destinations in 49 cities in Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean, and vice versa for WestJet passengers on Southwest.

The airlines said they will announce flight schedules and other details by late next year.
