Casino denied appeal on revoked license

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., July 1 (UPI) -- The state agency that denied Tropicana Casino and Resort owners a new casino license in New Jersey was correct in doing so, a state appeals court said.

In a 44-page decision, the court's three-judge panel said the resort's track record was "abysmal," the New Jersey Star-Ledger reported Tuesday.

Retired state Supreme Court Justice Gary Stein is currently serving as conservator for the resort, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year.

The casino's attorney, William Yung III, had argued the New Jersey Casino Control Commission had misinterpreted its own rules when revoking the resort's casino license, the Star-Ledger reported.
